The Cathedral Community
Winchester
Cathedral is the centre of a living Christian Community whose origins
stem from the earliest days of Christianity in this country. Fundamental
to that life is the daily round of worship through the day, the week,
the Christian seasons and the year.
Visitors are always welcome to attend the services, to light a candle at the prayer stand or just sit in silence and offer their own prayer to add to those of countless people over many centuries…
The Cathedral is open to visitors and pilgrims from 8.30am to 6pm every day (5.30pm on Sundays).
The Cathedral's Mission Statement
To make the Cathedral more accessible as a place where God the
Holy Trinity: Father, Son & Holy Spirit, meets all people and they
may seek Him.
Our origins are from monastic times, and that spirit of community is still vitally important in what we are today.
You can find out more about our community and how to become part of it in this section or from the Friends of the Cathedral section.
Aims
• To be the Bishop's church and the
mother church of the Diocese and County.
• To offer daily worship and intercession
to the glory of God and in the service of all people.
• To proclaim a living Christian faith
in our teaching, our life together and our service in the Cathedral, City
and wider community.
• To care for the Cathedral as evidence
of that historic and living faith, and its precinct as its appropriate
environment.
• To welcome visitors as God's guests
and assist their discovery of the cathedral and the faith which built
and adorns it.
• To be a community in which all share
a ministry and each values the others' part in it.
