Presented with the Sandford Award for Heritage Education 2008, acknowledging the professional and quality service offered to schools and children’s groups of all ages.
Information
Led by an experienced teacher, the Education Centre works with groups of all ages and backgrounds, from the UK and abroad. We especially welcome children from special schools and enjoy adapting and developing trails, workshops and other activities according to the needs of the group and the curriculum. Whether you are here for a couple of hours or a full day we will help you to plan your visit to ensure all children and young people gain as much as possible from their time with us.

Family Summer Holiday Activities
In addition to the free children’s trails available throughout the year, there’s an array of exciting events and activities taking place throughout the month of August.
Exhibition: Bugs Galore! An exhibition exploring the underground world of bugs in the Cathedral – Wooly Bear, Silverfish and Book Worms might sound harmless enough but they’re causing havoc in the library. Find out more about them and their habitat and what makes them such a nuisance. There’s even a chance for two lucky children to win a annual family pass to Marwell Wildlife by getting creative in our ‘create a bug’ competition, visit the exhibition for full details of how to take part.
Pre-booked Workshops: Every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am – 12pm, led by the Cathedral’s Director of Education, children will discover aspects of Cathedral life through these creative workshops. Call Cheryl on 01962 857 224 to book (children £2, accompanying adults free).
Drop-in Workshops: Every Wednesday from 10am – 12pm, get crafty at the Cathedral by creating sculptures, rockets, mobiles from a selection of interesting materials. Cathedral entry fees apply.

Outside Theatre: The Mowgli Stories
Adapted from The Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling. Mowgli’s real adventures are more extraordinary and a lot more exciting than the film! In this brand new production, international award-winning Illyria uses an ensemble chorus, masks, puppetry and song to evoke the amazing world of Kipling’s jungle. Suitable for all ages 5+.
Tickets: £12.50 adults, £10 (groups of 10+/over 60s), £8 under-16s/students, £33 family (2+2) n
On the gate: £15 adults, £10 children and full-time students. There will be a number of children’s workshops taking place during the day like Jungle Hip Hop and Animal Mask Making.
