Fine Food & Wine Show: 30 April to 3 May

Winchester Cathedral’s historic Outer Close (Cathedral Grounds to the locals) will be the location for their forth Fine Food and Wine Show, running from Friday 30th April to Monday 3rd May, and open from 10am to 6pm.

Showcasing the best in unusual and new fine foods and drinks, the Show attracts exhibitors from all over the country and has become a firm favourite for the people of Winchester, attracting over 2000 vistors per day. Indeed, the Show is becoming so popular the organisers have decided to extend the event for an extra day! This year over 40 exhibitors will be selling a range of foods and wines, as well as cooking and dining accessories, and bulthaup kitchens will be providing a state of the art Kitchen Theatre where there will be regular cookery demonstrations and tastings. There will also be several children’s cookery workshops, including a cookie one and two pasta making ones!

Among the exciting food and drink this year will be award-winning chilli condiments, olive oils direct from a small family-run estate in Greece, delicious fish pies, quiches and patés from West Country sustainably-sourced fish, Welsh-made charcuterie, cured and smoked rare-breeds meat, cheesecake lollypops, freshly-made Lebanese baklawa, and some gorgeous British hand-made kitchen and dining accessories and linens. A full list of exhibitors is available from the Cathedral’s website at www.winchester-cathedral.org.uk.

Stephanie Swann, who is organising the event is looking forward to welcoming so many regular as well as new exhibitors to the show. “ I wanted to create an event that would take it’s inspiration from some of the wonderful food shows and prestigious markets that one sees in London, where there is so much to tempt lovers of fine food and wines. I also wanted to create something that would be a bit different for Winchester, to introduce new and exciting high quality exhibitors from all over this country. The programme of Kitchen Theatre and Wine Theatre events featuring some well-known chefs is also growing each year, adding another new dimension to the Show”.  Stephanie is also well-known for the very successful Christmas Markets she organises, where she insists on equally high standards and which has gained a very high reputation for the quality of it’s exhibitors ( Or does this sound a bit conceited? I meant it to help people understand the standards I am trying to achieve!)

The event is being supported by Waitrose, who recently opened their Winchester store, and they will be providing ingredients for the demonstrations, and are also hosting a VIP Gala Evening on the Friday night. Complimentary tickets for their event are available exclusively from their store at Dean Lane Corner in Weeke, subject to availability. Other partners this year who have generously sponsored the show include Hamptons, Penningtons, Rathbones and Wilkins Kennedy.

Tickets are £2.50 on the door and entitle the holder to unlimited entry throughout the show.

Look Out for information on the Cathedral’s Indian Ball and Wedding Fair - coming in late June!
