Dr John Crook came to Winchester in 1975, to teach at The Pilgrims' School and to sing as a lay clerk in the cathedral choir, before beginning a new career as an architectural historian, buildings archaeologist, and photographer. He is Archaeological Consultant to the Chapter of Winchester, an honorary research fellow of the University of Reading, and a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. His photographs have been widely published.
