Winchester Cathedral welcomes groups, large and small. We can provide admission on an entry-only basis, arrange general interest and themed guided tours, provide catering packages and assist with other aspects of planning your visit, such as, length of visit, advice on travel and parking and neighbouring sites of interest.
We know from experience that taking a guided tour with one of our expert guides can make the visit all the more special so we encourage group organisers to make use of our own guides where possible.
A special rate of £5.50 per person applies for groups of 10 or more and includes entry and a standard Cathedral Tour or £6.50 per person if taking a special interest tour. We can provide a free drink for the coach driver and a range of catering packages or venue hire for groups.
Major events provide a totally different experience for groups. We have an annual Christmas Market (18 Nov – 20 Dec 2016) that is hugely popular with groups. Although there is no fee to attend the Christmas Market we do ask that groups book in advance. This helps us manage drop off and parking and also gives us the chance to provide a personalised ‘meet and greet’ service to welcome you on arrival.
In 2017 we will be marking the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen‘s death, 18 July 1817. Buried in the north nave aisle of the Cathedral, beside which stands an exhibition detailing her life and times in Hampshire. Jane Austen tours, exhibitions and special events will be run throughout the year.
In 2018 we will once again hold a Flower Festival. The festivals of 2013 and 2015 were astonishingly beautiful, filling the Cathedral with huge arrangements, both contemporary and traditional in style. The Flower Festival will run from 5 – 9 September 2018 with a preview evening taking place on 4 September.
