Annabelle Boyes MBE, Receiver General and Canon Treasurer

As its Chief Operating Officer, Annabelle has overall responsibility for the day-to-day non-liturgical operational running of the Cathedral, including its administration, finances and commercial activities.

Annabelle joined the Cathedral in 2008 having held Executive Board appointments in the Not for Profit Sector, as a Director for Historic Royal Palaces and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard for over 15 years, and has built up a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the sensitive balance between commerciality and charitable objectives. It is with this abundance of heritage experience that Annabelle was invited to become a Trustee of the Priory of England and the Islands at St John Ambulance in 2012.

Annabelle works closely with the Dean and Chapter colleagues to further the Cathedral’s Mission and Ministry and her title of Receiver General and Canon Treasurer dates from medieval times. Annabelle’s passion for heritage is demonstrated through her appointment as Project Director and Lead for the Cathedral’s Heritage Lottery application to secure a substantial national grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund – Kings and Scribes, The Birth of a Nation.

Annabelle is Managing Director of Winchester Cathedral Enterprises; a trustee of Winchester Social Enterprise; sits on the Boards of the Cathedral’s Finance and Investment Advisory Committee and Cathedral Council. She is a member of the College of Canons and the Winchester Cathedral Trust, and a Trustee of the Friends of Winchester Cathedral. She is also a member of the British Retail Consortium and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a Chartered Director and of course a member of Cathedral Chapter.

In addition, Annabelle was nominated and elected to the Cathedrals Administration and Finance Association (CAFA) in 2012 and is a Trustee of the Priory of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem.
