Boys Choral Open Day

A free event for boys in school years 2-6 to experience what life could be like as a Cathedral Chorister. Learn how to play percussion, sing with a choir, take part in a concert and have fun acting and singing in a performance workshop, play football, get creative in the art studio and sing with the world famous Winchester Cathedral Choristers.


Morning Session: 9.00 am - 12.00 pm
Enjoy fun performance activities, including percussion playing, drama
workshop, group singing and taking part in an informal concert. Boys will also get to play sport and explore the adventure playground.

Informal auditions: from 12.30 pm
Take part in a taster informal audition, find out if you could be a
Chorister! Get creative in our art studio while you are waiting.

Afternoon Session: 1.45 pm - 5.00 pm
Spend the afternoon with the Choristers, join a choir practice,
enjoy games and fun in the adventure playground and perform in an
informal concert in the Cathedral.

Evensong: 5.30 pm - 6.10 pm
Enjoy the rare opportunity to sing the anthem with the Cathedral Choir in the majestic Winchester Cathedral.

Information for parents
You are welcome to stay with your son and observe the
workshops or you might like to join in with the following activities:
• Take an exclusive tour of the College and the Cathedral
• Visit The Pilgrims’ School, observe lessons, meet staff and tour the
boarding houses
• Meet the Directors of Music for Winchester Cathedral Choir and
Winchester College Chapel Choir
• Chat with Chorister parents and find out what it is like to have a
musical son!
Tea will be provided before Evensong (free of charge) in the Cathedral for participating families. The Pilgrims’ School will happily provide lunch for any boys staying all day.
