Cathedral Carol Concert – Star Shine: A Night with the Stars

Winchester Cathedral, Nave

14th Dec 2018 7.00 PM - 14th Dec 2018 Event Type: Concert

Entitled Star Shine: an evening with the stars you are welcome to an evening of music, laughter and delight at Winchester Cathedral as the bright stars of the Cathedral Choir, boys, girls and lay clerks sing music for Christmas.

A highlight of the evening will be a tribute to HM Queen Elizabeth, the great star of our nation, with the premiere of ‘Queen Elizabeth's Winchester Carol’, composed by Roderick Williams and commissioned by the Friends of Winchester Cathedral.

This year the choir is supported by stars of the opera house, in Claire Rutter and Paulo Ferreira, singing well-loved repertoire both classical and contemporary. Dirk Maggs, producer and director of Radio 4’s The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, will remind us the comedy of Christmas, and the evening will be hosted by BBC South Today’s, Sally Taylor.

Throughout the concert, readings and reflections following contemporary Christmas themes will be interspersed with delightful performances of traditional and light-hearted carols sung by the Cathedral Choir.

Tickets (£20 - £40) are on sale now.
