Fruitfulness on the Frontline: Healthcare – Ministering Grace and Love

Taylor Selwyn Room, Learning Centre

22nd May 2017 7.30pm - 22nd May 2017 9.30pm Event Type: Festival

A new community building programme for professional people.

“Ministry is love in action: taking a moment to engage with the checkout person, noticing the ‘invisible’ people, …getting up early to say thank you to the people who empty your bins”

Working in healthcare can provide the perfect platform for ministering grace and love.  In this lecture Dr Roland Guy will reflect on Mark Greene’s book Fruitfulness on the Frontline to explore how this can be done though generosity, forgiveness and caring on your frontline, despite the challenges you may face.

Part of a series of lectures on which continues on 12, 19 & 26 June.

On 6 March 2017 The Executive Director of the London Institute of Contemporary Christianity, Mark Greene, gave a lecture to launch a new Hampshire wide community building programme for professional people, called Fruitfulness on the Frontline. The aim of Fruitfulness on the Frontline is to develop and resource communities of professionals who connect their discipleship as Christians with the particular markets and industries in which they work. The workplace is often the ‘frontline’ of faith, where our Christian values are sometimes challenged by the pressures of survival in the marketplace. Speakers in the series represent just a few industries/market sectors, however anyone who works in any market sector will be inspired by this series of gatherings, because the principles of applying Christian faith remain the same.

Dr Roland Guy is a diabetologist at the North Hampshire Hospital Basingstoke where he has been a consultant since 1989. His experiences with both patients and staff illustrate how we can demonstrate both grace and love in action in all sorts of ways.
