Guidance on worshipping at the Cathedral

Our schedule of services is open to anyone wishing to attend in person. Morning Prayer takes place at 8.00am, followed by Holy Eucharist at 8.30am (12.00 Sung Eucharist on Wednesday’s and 12.00 Holy Communion on Friday’s) with Choral Evensong or Evening Prayer at 5.30pm, Monday – Saturday. On Principal Feast Days there will be a 12.00 Festal Eucharist.

There are three services on Sunday including Holy Communion at 8.00am, Sung Eucharist at 10.00am and Choral Evensong at 3.30pm. More information is available on the Service Listings page

While COVID restrictions have been eased, the safety and wellbeing of all our visitors, worshippers, staff and volunteers remains a priority. Please observe the following safety measures when coming to the Cathedral to worship: 

FACE COVERINGS

  • Please consider wearing a face covering when walking about the cathedral. Face coverings may be removed when seated. 

DISTANCING

  • Please keep a 1m social distance. Please be considerate, asking permission if you wish to sit near to someone else
  • Please be considerate when singing and when offering the peace

SINGING

  • Hymns will be sung at the principal services on Sundays and at Evensong on Saturdays
  • Short acclamations and the Sursum Corda will be sung on Sundays but not the Creed and Lord’s Prayer
  • There will not be congregational singing at weekday Eucharists

HOLY COMMUNION

  • Holy Communion will be offered in one kind only 
  • Please wear a face covering when coming to receive Holy Communion 

TRACK AND TRACE

  • Track and Trace is optional
