Wondering about what to do in the lockdown period, and wondering still more about how Christmas will be this year? Then join the Lockdown Poetry Burst!
The poem should be entitled “This Christmas”. It is an opportunity to reflect on what Christmas means to you this year, when so many of our favourite activities are restricted and our relationships stretched. The competition will be judged by the distinguished poets Wendy Cope and Lachlan Mackinnon.
Competition rules and how to enter
This competition is open to any Hampshire resident of any age, and to schools and colleges within the Diocese of Winchester. The line limit for the poems is 14 for the primary and 40 for all others, but no prizes are given for length. The competition will be split into four age groups: lower primary (under 8 as on 25.12.20), upper primary, secondary and open. There will be prizes: £10, £20, £40, £80, for the winner of each group respectively.

If not entering the open class, please add your age and school/college. The results will be announced by 18th December.
We hope to display the poems in Winchester Cathedral over Christmas, and will certainly publish on our website. We shall do our best to honour our winners and the efforts of all who participate.
