A light and pleasant selection of piano pieces; some selected from Jane Austen?s own handwritten manuscripts, others popular favourites of the period.
Jane herself was a keen amateur pianist ? according to her niece, she played each morning before breakfast although unlike some of her heroines, ?was never induced…to play in company?.
The music is performed on pianos dating from the early nineteenth century, giving this recording a uniquely authentic feel. (Austen-fan fact ? the Broadwood piano used here featured in the famous BBC production of Pride and Prejudice).
