A wonderfully rich collection of Restoration composer John Blow’s anthems performed by Winchester Cathedral Choir and conducted by David Hill.

Blow was an English Baroque composer and organist, appointed to Westminster Abbey in 1669. His pupils included Henry Purcell and he was named a private musician to James II. In 1687 he became choirmaster of St Paul’s Cathedral. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.

Blow wrote over a hundred anthems. This glorious recording features a selection of fourteen.
