The Accolade is a stunning, Victorian-influenced cushion cover, based on a painting by English artist Edmund Blair Leighton.
“The Accolade” was the medieval ceremony that conferred knighthood. Here the young squire is receiving the accolade from his liege lady. It is a typically Victorian, romanticised image of the Middle Ages, full of exquisite detail and colour, peopled with gorgeous, elegant figures.
It was woven in Flanders, traditionally the home of the most skilled weavers, and hand-finished in Cornwall.
50 cm square – cushion cover only, pad not included.
