The Green Man on this delightful plaque is a jolly chap, his quirky features entwined with lush-looking hawthorn leaves and berries.
Believed to represent growth and rebirth, the Green Man is a motif that appears regularly in both churches and secular buildings across Europe. Spotting carvings of the Green Man in capitals, bosses and misericords is a thoroughly enjoyable pastime (see our Books department for more!).
The sculpture is weatherproof, and there’s a hole in the back for easy hanging.
Designed and made in England using resin-bonded Cotswold and Portland stone.
