A wonderful replica of one of Winchester Cathedral’s roof bosses. With typical quirky medieval humour, it depicts a lion’s head with a pig and piglets in its mouth.
The original boss (a carving that covers the joins in a vaulted ceiling) is found in the south aisle and is one of over a thousand bosses found in Winchester Cathedral. The resin copy is finished to resemble the medieval stone boss and is marvellously detailed. The pig and piglets are appealingly realistic – however it’s safe to assume that the mason had never actually seen a lion!
Unique to our shop, we also sell other bespoke bosses. Comes boxed.
