Hiring the Cathedral

The Cathedral provides a magnificent setting for over 50 musical events a year, from concerts featuring national artists and orchestras, to performances by local musicians and choirs.

Our space / facilities

  • For larger concerts / performances, we offer seating in our nave and aisles for up to 1167 people, with the option of additional seating for a further 300 people behind the Nave altar
  • For smaller concerts / performances, we offer two options: seating for up to 300 people in our Quire area behind the Nave altar, or seating for up to 100 people in our North Transept

Sales and marketing services

  • The services of our professionally run, centrally located Box Office (staffed every day bar Sundays and Bank Holidays, with online sales / phone messaging service 24 hours a day)
  • On-the-day ticket sales through our Cathedral Entrance Desk from doors open until 15 minutes after your event starts, plus concert stewards, ticket-checkers and programme sellers
  • The services of our professionally run, centrally located Box Office (staffed every day, with online sales / phone messaging service 24 hours a day)

Performer and performance services

  • Changing / storage space for up to 100 performers, plus a security service for their belongings
  • On-the-day rehearsal space from 1.00pm–4.00pm (additional rehearsals can be booked at extra cost)
  • A concert staging and assembly service, when required / booked
  • Advice / support with ensuring access for disabled people

Working with us

We want your event to be a success! In order to ensure that it all goes smoothly, we will ask you to:

  • Nominate a key contact, ideally a non-performer, for us to work with on a day-to-day basis
  • Send us a completed concert booking form plus deposit when your booking has been accepted, to
  • Take part in an event planning meeting with us 3-4 months before your event
  • Supply us with a seating plan – this can be adjusted up to 7 days before the performance, where feasible
  • Confirm your ticket pricing at the outset – we will be happy to advise you on ticket prices and price bands
  • Agree any use of your own electrical equipment, lighting or fixtures with us beforehand
  • Comply in full with our Health and Safety policy
