COVID-19 update: The cathedral is not currently open for general visits or tours but remains open for private prayer and reflection 11-3pm (1pm-3pm on Sundays). From the 8th of March, two weekly public services will resume inside the Cathedral, Wednesdays, 12noon, starting 10th March and Fridays, 12noon, starting 12th March. The Jane Austen Story

This permanent exhibition was installed in 2010 to mark the bicentenary decade of Jane Austen’s heyday. The exhibition is situated beside her grave and tells the story of Jane’s life in Hampshire: her birth and childhood Steventon, her writing and life in Chawton and her final few weeks and death in Winchester.

The exhibition is open during Cathedral visiting hours, and visitors will be able to enjoy the rest of the Cathedral’s treasures during their visit. Cathedral admission fees apply. Please check opening times before making a special visit.
