Invite family and friends and singalong to a joyful mix of well known carols and seasonal favourites, in the atmospheric splendour of the cathedral at Christmas.

Step back to a time when Christmas meant gathering together around the piano — friends, family, and neighbours raising their voices in song. This December, experience that same joy and togetherness within the candlelit nave of Winchester Cathedral, where the spirit of Christmas truly comes alive.

Let the Cathedral’s Girl Choristers and Lay Clerks fill the majestic space with the sounds of the season — from the much-loved theme from The Snowman to timeless carols and festive favourites including White Christmas, O Come All Ye Faithful, It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year and The Twelve Days of Christmas, to name a few.

There will be plenty of opportunities to join in too. This is not a concert to sit back and watch, but one to truly be part of — a shared celebration of music, memory, and togetherness. As your voices blend with the choirs, the music will rise beneath the soaring arches of the Cathedral, creating an unforgettable sound to welcome the season.

Adding a touch of storytelling magic, the evening will also feature a special reading from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol — a timeless and heartwarming tale that captures the generosity and joy of Christmas.

Buying a ticket to this special concert helps support the Cathedral’s vital work. As a registered charity, Winchester Cathedral relies on the generosity of its community to fund conservation, heritage, and outreach projects — protecting this historic building for generations to come.

It may be cold and dark outside, but step inside and you’ll be welcomed by the glow of candlelight, the sparkle of the great Christmas tree beneath the West Window, and the warmth of a community brought together by music, laughter, and song.
