SERVICES

The Cathedral is more than a historic building. It’s a hard-working church open every day of the year.

Every week, we have 16 regular services, plus many other services throughout the year. Thousands join us for our special celebrations at Christmas and Easter.

All services are free of charge and everyone is welcome.

The Cathedral is first and foremost a living place of Anglican liturgy and worship, with many of our services sung by our superb Cathedral Choirs.

The regular pattern of daily services has been part of this place since monastic times. Each day starts and finishes with Morning and Evening Prayer, as well as Holy Communion every day of the year.

The great seasonal celebrations of Christmas and Easter are especially busy times, as people join from all over the world to mark Christ’s birth, passion, death and resurrection, the most important dates in the Christian calendar.

Many other services take place throughout the year, including special community and seasonal services such as our Harvest Festival, as well as Taize Prayer which takes place on the last Sunday of each month. Usually on Sundays and special festivals, we also preach sermons.
