Volunteering

Volunteers enrich life at Winchester Cathedral in so many different ways.

Simply, the Cathedral could not be run without them. Over seven hundred volunteers take on a huge variety of roles to support The Cathedral and its mission.

Visitors are welcomed by hospitable front-of-house team of volunteers and may decide to take a tour with one of the expert volunteer guides. Behind the scenes, volunteers help with everything from fundraising to dusting.

If you have a few hours a week to spare, we would love to hear from you. In return for donating your time and skills, you will receive free entry to Winchester Cathedral, training, experience and become part of a lively and supportive community – and have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to preserve a thousand years of history for future generations.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email Sarah Williams, Volunteer Co-ordinator at sarah.williams@winchester-cathedral.org.uk, or call her on 01962 857 284.

Winchester Cathedral is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment.

All volunteers will be required to fill in an application form, supply 2 references, complete Basic or Foundation Safeguarding training, attend an induction and, where appropriate, a DBS check.
