Discover the ancient art of marbling and the joy of Japanese stab-bound bookmaking. Marbling is a surface pattern and an endangered heritage craft, used for paper and textile art. This calming and fun taster workshop is the perfect activity for adults looking to explore their creativity and learn a new skill.
Students will create mesmerising patterns on paper, using simple tools and breath-work. You will then use one of your patterns for a cover, to create a traditional Japanese stab-bound book to take home with your paper patterns. All materials included in the class. An apron and gloves are provided. Rachel suggests students wear older clothing, as ink can stain.
This class is suitable for ages 18+.
