A peaceful hour of music, silence and prayer in the beauty of Winchester Cathedral.

Join us for a contemplative evening service inspired by the Taizé Community in France. Through simple sung chants, scripture readings and periods of silence, Taizé prayer creates space to slow down, reflect and encounter God.

Whether you are a regular worshipper, exploring faith for the first time, or simply looking for peace and stillness, you are warmly welcome.

The service begins at 6.00pm and lasts around one hour. No previous knowledge of Taizé is needed, and all are welcome to participate or simply listen.

What to expect

  • Simple, repeated Taizé chants
  • Short Bible readings
  • Quiet reflection and silence
  • A peaceful atmosphere within the Cathedral
  • A service lasting approximately 50–60 minutes
  • Everyone is welcome to join in or simply listen

The Prayer starts at 6.00pm and lasts under one hour. It takes place mainly on the last Sunday of each month with a break in August and December.
