This summer we look forward not just to music, worship and times of quiet reflection but also craft workshops, interactive family trails, tours and more. Interactive family trail
Free with your annual pass, collect your trail from the Welcome Desk and join in with Jane Austen’s party games.
Perfect for children aged 5-11. Find Jane’s friends and family and join in with the party games and challenges they have in store for you!
Families will have to work together to:
• Win the horse race
• Battle in a duel
• Write a rhyme
• Make a silhouette
• Play their cards right

Craft Workshops
Join for an hour of crafting and story time.
Each week’s craft activity will have a brand new theme, meaning you can visit again and again! At the end of the session you’ll have made your very own handcrafted souvenir and listened to a story, all set in historic surroundings.
Pre-booking essential, £5pp. Suitable for ages 3-11. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Kings and Scribes exhibition
The perfect activity for curious minds; visit the three-level Kings and Scribes exhibition inside the cathedral for the ultimate hands-on learning experience. Explore 3D objects, design your own stained glass window and watch the Cathedral Scribes practice their calligraphy.
With a range of interactive displays and enthusiastic Guides to answer your questions, this exhibition is guaranteed to be a hit with all ages.
Entry included with a valid annual pass to the cathedral.
Family friendly services
Services are welcome to all ages and worship is always free of entry charge. Children may enjoy Evensong services more, as this provides an opportunity to listen to the choirs singing.
Tower Tours
Great for thrill-seeking teens.
Enjoy an exhilarating tower tour of Winchester Cathedral with magnificent views across Winchester and the county.
After climbing spiralling steps up onto the cathedral roof, you will see the ringing chamber, the great Cathedral bells and walk the full length of the nave roof with its huge wood beams.
The perfect pit stop
Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the Cathedral Café has a calming atmosphere, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, making it the perfect location to recharge.
Enjoy views of Winchester Cathedral whilst you tuck into tasty treats including children’s specials.

Outdoor spaces
The Outer Close of Winchester Cathedral is a popular picnic destination. Come with your blanket, pick up some takeaway drinks and snacks from the Cathedral Cafe and enjoy the shady spots under the trees.
As well as the popular spots, there’s also some hidden gems. Head to the Dean Garnier Garden inside the Inner Close if you need a moment to escape the hustle and bustle of the high street. With unrivaled views of the cathedral, this is a tranquil spot in the cathedral grounds which offers tranquility and calm to you and your family.
