Organised in partnership with the Hampshire Youth Network, the service featured poignant readings, thoughtful prayers, and beautiful music sung by the Boy Choristers and Lay Clerks. Contributions from young people across Hampshire added a powerful dimension to this act of remembrance and thanksgiving.
Reflecting on the occasion, the Reverend Canon Dr Roland Riem, Interim Dean of Winchester, said: “As we marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day at Winchester Cathedral, we gave thanks for the extraordinary courage of those who served, and for the peace their sacrifice made possible. With the voices of our choristers and young people from across Hampshire, this service offered a poignant reminder of the cost of war—and a hopeful call to continue building a world shaped by unity, compassion, and justice.”
Thank you to everyone who was involved in this service.
