Joshua Stephens is set to join Winchester Cathedral as Sub Organist on June 6th.

Joshua comes to us with an already enviable CV. Joshua studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and has worked with many high-profile groups such as The Sixteen, English Touring Opera and the City of London Sinfonia. Joshua has also given concerts in many of Britain’s great cathedrals.  Whilst at Wells Cathedral he was involved in many world premieres, including works by Judith Bingham and Michael Berkeley.

Central to much of his work is education and outreach. After Joshua’s time at Sheffield Cathedral, where he was Acting Director of Music, Joshua directed the Steel City Choristers. This outreach choir goes out and about in the North of England, taking choral music and worship to areas with social and economic difficulties.

Joining with a wealth of experience in choral and organ music, as well as other projects, including working with the actress Maxine Peake, Winchester Cathedral look forward to welcoming Joshua to the team.

“We are very excited to be welcoming Joshua to Winchester. Joshua is an exceptional organist and choral director with wide experience. His engaging personal style and capable musicianship will endear him to local audiences and members of our growing global cathedral community.” – Canon Andy Trenier.
