Winchester Cathedral held its annual civic choral service to mark the start of the Mayoral year.
On Sunday, May 18, the Mayor’s Mattins service was held at Winchester Cathedral, marking the start of new mayor, Cllr Sudhakar Achwal’s role.
Here are the best pictures from the event, which was attended by members of the city council, past mayors, and featured music from the Cathedral’s Boy Choristers and Lay Clerks, a sermon, and prayers for the Mayoral year.
The morning started with a procession from the town hall, leading to the cathedral’s west doors for the service.
The service then ended with a procession back to the town hall.
This year’s service was especially significant, as Cllr Achwal is Winchester’s first Hindu mayor.
