We are saddened to learn of the death of Dr Richard Seal, former Organist and Master of the Choristers at Salisbury Cathedral from 1968 until his retirement in 1997. One of Dr Seal’s greatest achievements during his time at Salisbury was the foundation of a separate girls’ choir in 1991, which paved the way for girls’ choirs in cathedrals across the country.
