Allchurches Trust Limited is a registered charity affiliated to the Church of England that supports church and heritage activities. The Trust has helped us take forward key projects such as laying the stone floor in our new Fleury Building opening 2011.
Association of English Cathedrals
The Association of English Cathedrals is an important umbrella body for England’s 42 Anglican cathedrals, representing their collective interests with organisations such as government departments, English Heritage and national church institutions. It also promotes shared best practice between cathedrals.
The Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England
Our Fabric Advisory Committee answers to this statutory national body, which oversees, advises on and supports a wide range of projects relating to the care and conservation of Church of England cathedrals.
The Church Commissioners
The Church Commissioners manage the Church’s historic assets to support the Church’s ministry, and meets some 16% of its total running costs, answering to General Synod and Parliament. They fund the salary of our Dean and two of our Canons.
The Deanery Bookstall: Cathedral second-hand books
This busy and popular bookstall housed in the in the Cathedral’s Inner Close is run by a group of dedicated volunteers who collect, price and sell a wide range of second-hand books, raising valued funds to support our choral music and choristers.
The Friends of Dean Garnier Garden Trust
The Dean Garnier Garden is one of our hidden gems, a tranquil and beautifully planted walled garden in the inner close that is managed and maintained by 200 volunteers. It stands on the site of a monks’ dormitory that was once part the great medieval Priory of St Swithun.
Friends of Winchester Cathedral
Friends are enthusiastic supporters of this great medieval Cathedral, its special history and treasures, and its great choral tradition. Since it was founded in 1931, this registered charity has raised £8 million in today’s money to support a wide range of important initiatives, including our new Fleury Building, opening 2011.
National Lottery Heritage Fund
The Heritage Fund was the key funding partner for the Kings & Scribes capital appeal between 2011-2018. More recently it has distributed Covid-19 emergency funding via the DCMS Culture Recovery Fund, from which the Cathedral received generous support.
Winchester Cathedral Trust
Winchester Cathedral Trust is a registered charity that exists to support the Cathedral financially for major projects. It led a fundraising campaign to secure match funding for the £21m Heritage Lottery Fund project “Kings & Scribes”.
Winchester City Council
The City Council supports the Cathedral in a number of ways, most recently through the distribution of Covid-19 business grants, in respect of the significant loss of commercial income caused by the pandemic.
