Thousands visit Winchester Cathedral for spectacular opening night of The Storytellers

Last night, Winchester Cathedral welcomed thousands of visitors for the world premiere of The Storytellers, a brand-new immersive light and sound experience by Luxmuralis. This breathtaking son et lumière spectacle transported audiences through realms of fantasy, romance, science fiction, and adventure, bringing literary masterpieces to life—from Shakespeare to Jane Austen.

The opening night received glowing reviews, with visitors captivated by the unique storytelling experience:

It was an amazing experience! I brought my family tonight, but I’m definitely booking to come back with friends.
This show felt completely different from the other Luxmuralis events I’ve attended. I can’t quite explain why, but I think it’s my favourite of all six— I’ve been to every Luxmuralis show here since 2022!
I came alone as a huge Jane Austen fan, and seeing her legacy translated in such a contemporary way was fascinating. I travel to see a lot of Jane Austen artwork, but this was unlike anything I’ve seen before.

Following such an enthusiastic response, tickets for The Storytellers are now selling fast, with nightly shows running nightly until 15 March 2025. Due to high demand, visitors are encouraged to book in advance while availability remains.

Families can also take advantage of a special offer on Wednesday 12 March, with tickets available for £25.00 for two adults and up to four children (aged 3-16). The discount is automatically applied when booking online.

Don’t miss this extraordinary event—book your tickets now and step into the world of The Storytellers at Winchester Cathedral.

Jane Austen's Endings: A talk by Dr Gillian Dow — Jane Austen

Wedding bells; soaring music and sunny skies; a kiss shared by the happy couple: Jane Austen’s novels, when adapted for the screen, invariably end with the marriage of the hero and heroine. On the page, Austen’s endings are more complex.
