Park & Ride

Winchester’s Park & Ride services offer a convenient and environmentally friendly way to reach the city centre. Regular buses run throughout the day, stopping just a short walk from the Cathedral grounds. Parking is available at several Park & Ride sites around the city.

 

Travelling by Bus

Winchester is well served by local and regional bus routes. Services operate frequently into the city centre, with stops located within easy walking distance of the Cathedral.

 

Travelling by Train

Winchester Railway Station is approximately a 10–15 minute walk from the Cathedral. Regular services connect Winchester with London, Southampton, Portsmouth, and other major destinations. Visitors are encouraged to plan their journey in advance and check live travel updates before travelling.

 

Walking or Cycling

The Cathedral is easily reached on foot from many parts of the city. Winchester also offers a number of cycling routes and secure cycle parking areas nearby.

 

Travelling by Car

Winchester is well connected to the motorway network and can be easily accessed from all directions. Located just off the M3 (Junctions 9, 10 & 11), it’s an easy journey by road from London (1.5 hours) and Southampton (20 minutes). Take the A34 from Newbury (35 minutes), Oxford (1 hour) and the A30 from Salisbury (40 minutes).

If you are travelling by car, please be aware that parking in the city centre can be limited during busy periods. We recommend using Park & Ride services where possible. For those who need to park closer, several public car parks are available within walking distance of the Cathedral.
