Last week we celebrated the opening of the 2025 Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market, a highlight of the city’s festive calendar and a major contributor to the life and mission of Winchester Cathedral. Canon Andrew Micklefield invited visitors to gather at the Market Tree, offering a prayer and blessing as the season began.

This year, the Market Tree is once again illuminated using solar power—an environmentally friendly initiative proudly supported by our corporate partner Paris Smith. Managing Partner Huw Miles, joined by colleagues Helen and Danielle, had the honour of switching on the lights. We are deeply grateful for their long-standing commitment. Their support demonstrates how local businesses can play a meaningful role at Winchester Cathedral.

Corporate partnerships like this are vital. They help us deliver a safe and memorable Christmas Market for hundreds of thousands of visitors while also enabling us to protect the Cathedral’s heritage, support our music and education programmes, and ensure this historic place continues to serve the community for generations to come.

Visitors enjoyed a wonderful opening evening, lifted by a performance from the Girl Choristers led by Sub-Organist Joshua Stephens. Their music is just one example of the cultural life businesses help us nurture through year-round support.

We extend our sincere thanks to all the organisations who partner with us throughout the year and to our 2025 Market Sponsors. We warmly welcome conversations with businesses who wish to join us as supporters—whether through sponsorship, partnership programmes or bespoke opportunities that align with your organisation’s goals and values.
