This summer, Winchester Cathedral welcomes visitors to explore its programme of family-friendly activities. Join Jane Austen on a jolly for an interactive children’s trail, uncover royal secrets in the Kings and Scribes exhibition, reach new heights on a tower tour, or join in joyful worship with music and singing. Annual passes cost £14.00 per adult, £8.00 for students, £6.00 for children ages 12 to 16, and free for children 11 and under (with a paying adult). You get a £1.00 discount when you book your annual pass online.

Summer highlights at Winchester Cathedral:
- Jane Austen-themed interactive trail (25th July – 2nd November) Children can take part in a lively trail inspired by Jane Austen’s world, featuring party games and challenges such as horse races, duels, rhyme-writing, and silhouette-making. Included with an annual pass.
- Craft workshops (5th, 13th, 28th August) Held in the historic Undercroft, these hour-long sessions combine storytelling with themed crafts. Children aged 3–11 will create a handmade souvenir to take home. £5 per participant. Pre-booking required.
- Kings and Scribes exhibition Explore 1,000 years of history through interactive displays, 3D objects, and calligraphy demonstrations. Included with an annual pass.
- Tower Tours For ages 11 and up, climb the Cathedral’s spiralling steps to see the ringing chamber, great bells, and panoramic views of Winchester. Pricing available at the Cathedral Box Office or website. Pre-booking recommended.
- Picnics and hidden gardens Enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the Outer Close or discover the tranquil Dean Garnier Garden, perfect for quiet reflection and family picnics.
- Cathedral Café and Gift Shop Open daily from 9.30am to 5.00pm, offering seasonal treats and a wide selection of souvenirs inspired by Winchester’s rich heritage.
